Exhibitors' Profile

The chemical industry has been a major part of the Singapore economy for many years, based on a strong foundation as a major oil refining centre with a long history, and strategically placed at the heart of the Asia - Pacific region. In recent years the pharmaceuticals industry has also seen major growth, with Singapore positioned as Asia's biomedical research hotspot.

The Institute of Chemical & Engineering Sciences (ICES) was established as a national research institute in 2002 to spearhead research innovation in the areas of chemistry and chemical engineering. Since then, ICES has developed the capability to cover the range of activities from exploratory research to process development, optimisation and problem solving, often working closely with industry partners to develop solutions.

We warmly welcome passionate chemical engineers and chemists to join our dynamic organisation.  Specific skill sets in demand include industry biotech, crystallisation and biomass conversion.

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is a new joint medical school by Imperial College London (ICL) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The School will deliver a new five-year undergraduate medical programme resulting in a joint degree (MBBS) awarded by ICL and NTU. The first cohort of 50 students will start in August 2013.
The research strategy of the School builds on existing competencies at NTU and clinical opportunities at our healthcare partners, as well as areas of mutual interest between ICL and NTU. The initial areas of research focus of the School will be in Infectious Diseases including malaria, TB and microbiology, Metabolic Diseases including diabetes, Neuroscience and Mental Health, Medical and Surgical Technologies, and Health Services Research.

You can look forward to interacting with LKCMedicine's senior management at the virtual career fair:

  1. Professor Martyn Partridge, Senior Vice Dean
  2. Dr Lionel Lee, Chief Operating Officer

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is one of the fastest growing research-intensive universities in Asia and recently ranked 4th in the new QS world's top young elite universities under 50 years old. NTU has built on the strong foundation of science and engineering, and is now an internationally recognized multi-disciplinary university. NTU's 2015 vision comprises of five peaks of excellence: Sustainability, Future Healthcare, New Media, New Silk Road (best of East and West) and Innovation Asia.

In addition, the newly established Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCSoM), is a joint school between two of the world's premier institutions of higher education, Imperial College London (UK) and NTU (Singapore).

We welcome all potential candidates in the areas mentioned above especially on medical sciences and clinician scientists to apply for faculty and research positions and be part of the new research frontiers and scale greater heights in research excellence.

The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre is a major research enterprise established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF). Established in 2007, the SMART Centre is MIT's first research centre outside of Cambridge, MA and its largest international research endeavor.

At SMART, we identify and carry out research on critical problems of societal importance.  SMART is a magnet attracting and anchoring global research talent, while simultaneously instilling and promoting a culture of translational research and entrepreneurship in Singapore.  Headed by senior MIT faculty members, research projects in SMART are organized into interdisciplinary research groups (IRGs). To date, five IRGs have been established: BioSystems and Micromechanics (BioSym), Centre for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM), Future Urban Mobility (FM), Infectious Diseases (ID) and Low Energy Electronics Systems (LEES).  For more information, visit http://smart.mit.edu/home.html.

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), established in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has a mission to advance knowledge and nurture technically grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs. This will be accomplished, with a focus on Design, through an integrated multi-disciplinary curriculum and multi-disciplinary research.

We welcome qualified candidates with a passion for research and education in any of the following or related disciplines to take up a rewarding academic career (both tenure-track and non-tenure track) in Singapore—a world-class scientific research and education hub.

TUM CREATE is a joint research programme between Technische Universität München (TUM) in Germany and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore with funding by the National Research Foundation of Singapore.   It is developing innovative technologies, future transportation concepts and the application of electric vehicles (EVs) to match the challenging requirements of fast-growing tropical nmegacities.  Working on a broad scale from the molecule to the megacity, over 90 scientists and engineers currently are involved in researching all aspects of electromobility, including new battery materials, EV design, computer modelling and simulations, and transportation systems design.  One of TUM CREATE's current endeavours is to design and build the world's first purpose-built electric taxi.
