Why we are ending support for XPOCAST?

As many of you know, the industry shift away from Adobe Flash has led to our creation of a HTML5 based software, INXPO Studio to fully replace our previous webcasting technology, XPOCAST. With great confidence, we recognize the time has come for us to upgrade all our clients to Studio, and say goodbye to XPOCAST.

The end of life (EOL) for the Adobe Media Server (AMS) is occurring on June 21, 2018. EOL for this product means Adobe is no longer supporting it with additional security fixes, therefore continuing to use this product after that date would be a high security risk for the INXPO platform.

NOTE: Supporting information can be found on the Adobe site:
https://helpx.adobe.com/support/programs/eol-matrix.html

As such, during the INXPO Summer Product Release, on June 23, 2018, XPOCAST will come to its EOL. At that time, XPOCAST will no longer be able to be copied, created or run live. XPOCAST presentations that are in the on demand period will be honored.

Due to the ROBOT vulnerability, INXPO will remove ciphers from the SSL servers on February 17, 2018.

The following ciphers will be removed:

  • TLS1-AES-256-CBC-SHA
  • TLS1.2-AES256-GCM-SHA384
  • TLS1.2-AES128-GCM-SHA256
Why are we ending support for IE8, IE9 and IE10?

As we continue to evaluate which browsers to support, we consider which ones will provide our users the best experience and enable us to focus on areas that will add the most value for customers. There are three key reasons that drove this decision:

  • IE8, IE9 and IE10 are all less secure. Trust and security are important to INXPO. There have been multiple security vulnerabilities discovered in these older browsers over the years, so we are upholding our commitment to trust by ending support for these less secure browsers. (As you know, Microsoft also stopped supporting all of these browser versions effective January 12, 2016.)
  • IE8, IE9 and IE10 are not modern browsers. These browsers do not support the rich internet apps our customers have come to expect, including HTML5, which is the new industry standard and the technology we are investing in moving forward. HTML5 supports mobile devices; doesn’t rely on plug-ins; and provides a faster customer experience.
  • Our customers are moving to newer browsers. Less than 12% of our users are using IE8, IE9 and IE10 combined. Our customers are trending towards newer browsers, and we want to develop features that best serve our customer community.

What does this mean to me?

If you continue to use the IE8, IE9 or IE10 browser after the applicable end of life period, some new and/or existing features and functionality may not work in that browser. Bugs or performance issues that appear only when using IE8, IE9 and IE10 will not be investigated or fixed by INXPO after the noted End of Life dates in the grid above.

What action do I need to take?

We are providing you advanced notice to ensure you have as much time as possible to plan for alternative strategies. We strongly recommend that you and your company’s IT administrators upgrade to one of our supported browsers. For a list of our currently supported browsers, latest recommendations and requirements, please see our Browser Support and Technical Requirements Page.

What will happen if I take no action?

While users may still be able to access the service using IE8, IE9 and IE10, new and/or existing features and functionality may no longer work in these browsers. In addition, bugs or performance issues that appear only when using IE8, IE9 and IE10 will not be investigated or fixed by INXPO after the applicable releases.

How can I get more information?

Your INXPO account representative and/or the INXPO Solutions team (vxhelp@inxpo.com) is always available to answer any questions you have about this change. If you have further questions, please contact us.
